Broccoli Salad Recipe

Step 1

Chop the broccoli florets into bite-size pieces and wash them to clean from any dust. Then set them on a colander to drain the excess water.

Step 2

Fill a suitable pot halfway with water and let it boil on high heat. Once the water is at a boil, dissolve one teaspoon of salt in the water and add the broccoli. Let them simmer for about 5 minutes. Then remove them from the pan and strain their excess water.

Step 3

While the broccoli florets are cooling down, wash and peel the carrots. Then grate them with a coarse grater and add them to a large mixing bowl. You can also julienne the carrots if you like.

Step 4

Chop the apple into small and cubic bite-size chunks and add them to the bowl. Dice the onion into small pieces and add to the bowl.

Step 5

After the broccoli cools down, add it to the bowl along with raisins, chopped walnuts, and sunflower seeds, and mix the ingredients until they are thoroughly combined.

Step 6

To prepare the dressing, add the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey, salt, and black pepper to a medium mixing bowl and whisk them to form a uniform and smooth sauce. You can substitute some or all of the yogurt with sour cream. Moreover, different types of vinegar can be used instead of lemon juice, and the salad will still be delicious.

Step 7

Pour dressing over broccoli salad and toss or stir well to coat each ingredient. Your broccoli salad is ready now. You can serve it immediately, but we recommend refrigerating that for at least one hour before serving to marinate the ingredients.
