Turkey Stew Recipe
Today at Takrecipe, we share an excellent and delicious Persian stew with you. Turkey stew is one of the traditional dishes from the Caspian Sea region of Iran. They often use turkey instead of chicken in their various stews. Turkey has firmer meat than chicken, but the remarkable thing about turkey is that it prevents diabetes and is also full of valuable vitamins for the human body. Brewed saffron | 2 tbsp |
Olive oil | 1 tbsp |

Turkey Stew Recipe
Step 1
Firstly, chop one of the onions and put it in a suitable bowl, then cut the turkey thighs into large pieces and add them to the bowl along with two tablespoons of brewed saffron and one tablespoon of olive oil. You can also use turkey breast for this stew.
Step 2
Stir the ingredients in the bowl and massage them with your hands until the ingredients reach all parts of the turkey meat. Then cover it with plastic film and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour to marinate the turkey.
Step 3
After an hour, chop the remaining onion into fine pieces. Then put a suitable pot on heat and add some liquid oil. Let the oil get hot. Then add the chopped onion and sauté them a little until it becomes translucent and soft.
Step 4
After the onion becomes soft and transparent, add the turkey meat to the pot and sauté for about 5 minutes until it changes color. Then add two to three cups of boiling water to the pot.
Step 5
Scrub and peel the potatoes and cut them into two centimeters cubes. Then wash and rinse them with cold water and add the potatoes to the pot.
Step 6
Now add the bay leaf and the cinnamon stick to boiling water and stir. Then put the lid on the pot and let the meat simmer on low heat for three hours or until the meat is well cooked. If you want to make it with a pressure cooker, it takes about one to one and a half hours to cook.
Step 7
After 2 hours, add salt to the stew, give a stir, and let the stew thicken. Next, when the turkey meat is thoroughly cooked, take the bay leaf and the cinnamon stick from the stew.
Step 8
Finally, take the turkey stew off the heat and add it to a suitable bowl. Serve turkey stew with saffron rice and Shirazi salad. Enjoy your meal.
Note
Different seasonings are used to make turkey stew tastier in different cities of Iran. You can also use ingredients such as tomato paste, pomegranate paste, or aromatic vegetables such as parsley, dill, and coriander to improve the taste of your stew. Some also add sunflower seeds to the stew, which gives a restaurant-quality look to this stew.
