Fesenjan with Meatballs Recipe
- 300 g minced meat Lamb or beef
- 2 Medium onion
- 300 g ground walnuts
- 2-3 pomegranate paste
- 1 tbsp plum paste
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tps salt
- tps Ground Black pepper
- tps Ground turmeric
- Wash and peel one of the onions and grate them. Mix the ground meat with grated onion in a bowl, and one teaspoon of each salt, black pepper, and turmeric. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for half an hour.
- After half an hour, take walnut-sized portions of the meat mixture and roll them into balls using the palms of your hands.
- Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the meatballs until browned. Set them aside.
- Peel and chop the remaining onion. In a pot, sauté the chopped onion in some oil until slightly golden.
- Add ground walnuts, pomegranate paste, plum paste, and one teaspoon of salt, black pepper, and turmeric. Sauté them for a little longer.
- Pour in some water and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer for an hour over low heat.
- Now add the ice cubes to the stew.
- After an hour, gently add the fried meatballs to the stew and let them simmer for another hour.
- In the last half hour of cooking, add the sugar.
