  • 300 g minced meat Lamb or beef
  • 2 Medium onion
  • 300 g ground walnuts
  • 2-3 pomegranate paste
  • 1 tbsp plum paste
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tps salt
  • tps Ground Black pepper
  • tps Ground turmeric


  • Wash and peel one of the onions and grate them. Mix the ground meat with grated onion in a bowl, and one teaspoon of each salt, black pepper, and turmeric. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for half an hour.
  • After half an hour, take walnut-sized portions of the meat mixture and roll them into balls using the palms of your hands.
  • Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the meatballs until browned. Set them aside.
  • Peel and chop the remaining onion. In a pot, sauté the chopped onion in some oil until slightly golden.
  • Add ground walnuts, pomegranate paste, plum paste, and one teaspoon of salt, black pepper, and turmeric. Sauté them for a little longer.
  • Pour in some water and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer for an hour over low heat.
  • Now add the ice cubes to the stew.
  • After an hour, gently add the fried meatballs to the stew and let them simmer for another hour.
  • In the last half hour of cooking, add the sugar.
  • Once everything has been cooked thoroughly, transfer the Fesenjan stew to a serving dish and enjoy it with fluffy rice. Enjoy!
