Not only is garlic bread a delicious snack, but it also has cultural importance. Garlic is seen as having beneficial effects on health and is applied to ward off evil spirits in various cultures. Garlic is a key component in many conventional treatments since it is thought to have antibacterial and antiviral properties. Garlic bread is only one of many foods that employ garlic, which is used as a condiment in some cultures in practically every recipe.

The origin of garlic bread, which has been around for generations, is unclear. Some historians say it was first made in Italy and was called “pane all’aglio.” Some believe garlic bread’s origins lie in France or Spain, where they were known as “pain aillé” and “pan de ajo,” respectively. Regardless of where it came from, garlic bread has spread worldwide and become a favorite food.

Garlic bread is also known for its health benefits. Allicin, a substance found in garlic, is thought to have antifungal and antibacterial activities. The distinctive scent of garlic is also a result of allicin. Antioxidants, which are found in garlic in abundance, aid in the battle against free radicals, which may harm cells and cause illnesses like cancer. Garlic is also thought to be anti-inflammatory and can help decrease cholesterol and blood pressure.

Although it is pretty easy to make garlic bread, there are a few considerations to ensure it comes out right. First off, fresh garlic cloves should be used rather than pre-minced garlic. Garlic bread will taste better if it is made using fresh garlic since it has a stronger flavor and scent. Second, toast the bread or bake it until it is crisp and golden brown. Several types of bread, including baguette, Italian, French, and even sliced sandwich bread, can be used to make garlic bread. However, the most conventional and suggested method is to utilize crusty bread with a soft inside, like a baguette. The bread might become rough and dry if it is overcooked or mushy if it is undercooked. Finally, if you want your garlic bread to have a strong, buttery flavor, use high-quality butter or olive oil.

Additionally, garlic bread may be saved and warmed up later. Garlic bread should be carefully wrapped in plastic or aluminum foil and put in a freezer bag to freeze. It should be thawed at room temperature and then heated in the oven or toaster oven until it is toasty and warm again. As it is simple to make in big amounts and is a hit with the guest, garlic bread is frequently offered at parties, get-togethers, and social events.

Garlic bread is usually considered safe to eat; however, if too much garlic is consumed, some people might experience heartburn or stomach problems. If you use any prescription medications, it’s essential to consult with your doctor beforehand since garlic might interfere with certain of them.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cup Bread flour
  • ½ tsp Active Dry or instant yeast
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 50 g Softened butter
  • 6 clove Garlic
  • 200 g Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Ground Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley leaves

Instructions

  • Add two cups of warm water to a large bowl. It should be noted that the water should not be cold nor hot, but slightly warm. Then add sugar, salt, and yeast to it and stir until all the ingredients dissolve in water.
  • Add some olive oil. Then sift flour on the bowl into three or four parts and mix them gently with a spoon to form a massive shaggy dough.
  • Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it. You can use a stand mixer for kneading the dough, making the process much easier. After about six to eight minutes of kneading, the dough will become soft, smooth, and elastic.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for eight to ten minutes. This will allow the gluten strands to relax, preventing its tendency to rebound back while we roll the dough.
  • Chop the parsley leaves. You can use your favorite herbs, or you can also use dry herbs
  • Finely chop the garlic cloves. Mix the chopped garlic and herbs with the butter until thoroughly combined. You can also add a pinch of salt here if you want.
  • Roll out the dough into the shape of your baking tray. Roll until its thickness is about 1 centimeter. Then place this onto the baking tray and press it evenly to fit it into the pan. You can score the dough deep and make a pattern.
  • Spread a layer of garlic butter on dough and top it with a sprinkle of mozzarella
  • Cover the dough with the plastic film and let it sit and rise for 40 minutes in a warm environment.
  • Bake it at 200 degrees Celsius for 10 to 15 minutes or until it gets golden brown. Finally, take it out of the pan and let it sit for two minutes. Enjoy delicious cheesy garlic bread.
