Ingredients (Serves 4):
- 4 hot dog buns
- 200g cooked lobster, shrimp, chicken, or hard-boiled eggs (chopped)
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp fresh chives (chopped)
- 1 tbsp celery (finely diced)
- 1 tbsp red onion (finely diced)
- ½ cup shredded lettuce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional, for seafood Guédille)
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting the buns)
Prepare the Filling
If using lobster or shrimp, ensure they are fully cooked, chopped into small pieces, and chilled. If using chicken, shred it finely, and if using eggs, chop them into small chunks. In a mixing bowl, combine the protein with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, chives, celery, and red onion. Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, and paprika (if making a seafood Guédille). Stir well until the ingredients are evenly coated with the creamy dressing. Cover and let it chill for 10 minutes while preparing the buns.
Prepare the Buns
Heat a pan over medium heat and add butter. Slice the hot dog buns open if they are not already pre-cut. Place the buns in the pan, cut-side down, and toast them for about 1–2 minutes until they are golden and slightly crisp on the edges while still remaining soft.
Assemble the Guédille
Line each toasted bun with a small amount of shredded lettuce. Spoon the chilled filling generously into each bun, ensuring an even distribution. Garnish with extra chives or a sprinkle of paprika for a more appealing look. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Pro Tips;
For the Best Flavor:
🟢Let the filling chill for at least 15–20 minutes before assembling to allow the flavors to meld.
Alternative Fillings:
🟢If you want a vegetarian version, replace the protein with mashed chickpeas or tofu mixed with mayonnaise and seasonings.
Extra Crunch:
🟢Add diced pickles or crispy bacon bits for additional texture and flavor.
