The Recipe and Secret of Persian Halva Ardeh
Halva Ardeh Recipe
Halva Ardeh or sesame tahini halva is one of the traditional and old Persian halva, which is usually served as breakfast with ingredients such as butter, cream, etc. Halva Ardeh is made with different recipes in each middle eastern country; some may use semolina, flour, or cornstarch. But today, we are sharing the secret of the Persian Halva Ardeh to make it just like an Iranian at your home.
Ingredients
- Dry milk 1 cup
- granulated sugar ¾ cup
- Ardeh (Tahini) ½ cup
- Pistachio ½ cup
Mix and Sift Dry Ingredients
Add the dry milk and granulated sugar to a bowl. Then sift them at least three times. This will help you to eliminate the large chunks of milk and sugar powder.
Mix Ardeh and Ingredients
Pour the Ardeh into the bowl containing the mixture of dry milk and sugar. Mix them with a spoon until the ingredients are in the form of bread crumbs, then knead with your hands.
Knead Ingredients Gradually
Note that the ingredients are dry at the beginning of kneading, but do not rush to add extra Ardeh because it loosens the ingredients. Continue to knead the ingredients for 5 minutes.
Add Ardeh and Knead
If the ingredients are still dry, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of Ardeh and knead until the halva becomes a smooth-looking paste.
Chop Pistachios Carefully
Meanwhile, chop the pistachio by rocking the blade of a large knife across the nuts.
Press Mixture into Container
Place a plastic film inside a suitable container and layer it with the pistachio. Then transfer the mixture into the container and press it evenly to fit it into the container.
Chill and Serve
Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate that for 3 to 4 hours. Then take the halva out of the refrigerator and flip the container on a plate. Now cut your Halva Ardeh into slices and serve it with butter or cheese, bread, and a cup of tea for breakfast. Enjoy!
