Simple and Easy Moussaka Recipe with potatoes
Moussaka Recipe
Today we will make Moussaka which originated from Greece and was created by chief Nikolaos Tselementes in the 18th century. Moussaka is an eggplant-based dish that is filled with minced meat and cheese. You will love this cheesy and juicy recipe.

Potato | 3 |
Onion | 1 |
Tomato paste | 1 tbsp |
Mozzarella cheese | 200 g |
Bread crumbs | 1 tbsp |
Salt | 1 tbsp + 1 tsp |
Black pepper | 1 tsp |
Béchamel sauce | |
Flour | ⅓ cup |
Butter | ⅓ cup |
Milk | ½ litter |
Moussaka Recipe
Step 1
Wash the eggplants. Cut them into slices. Sprinkle a tablespoon of salt over the sliced eggplants. Shake or stir the eggplants to get coated with salt. Let them sit for one hour. This will remove the bitterness of the eggplants.
Step 2
Cut the meat into 5 centimeters chunks and grind them with a grinder.
Step 3
Peel and coarsely chop the onion, put a pan on the heat and add two tablespoons of oil. Then sauté the onions in oil over medium heat until they get translucent.
Step 4
Add the minced meat to the pan, then sauté for 15 minutes until the color of the meat changes.
Step 5
Then add the tomato paste to the pan and sauté it. When it starts sizzling, you should add salt and black pepper. Stir the mix until it gets darker and the ingredient becomes uniform. Then turn off the heat.
Step 6
wash potatoes well, peel them, and cut them into slices.

put a pan on the heat and add some oil. Then sauté the potatoes in oil over medium heat until they are cooked.
Step 8
Meanwhile, Wash and rinse the eggplants and put them in a colander to drain the excess water. Then sauté both sides of the sliced eggplants in the pan for about two to three minutes.
Step 9
For preparing the béchamel sauce, put an appropriate pan on medium heat and melt the butter.
Step 10
Once the butter is melted, add the flour and stir to make the flour a little bit cooked for about two to three minutes.
Step 11
Then pour milk and whisk the ingredients regularly to reduce the chance of your sauce lumping up. Then turn the heat to low and let it cook to thicken. It should get the thickness of porridge.

Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius or 360 Fahrenheit degree.

Coat a deep container with the bread crumbs and a layer of the potato slices. Then add a layer of sliced eggplants.
Step 14
Add a layer of meat sauce. Then spread a tablespoon of béchamel sauce evenly over the meat and top it with a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
Step 15
Loosely cover the container with foil. Place it into the preheated oven and bake it for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and grill the Moussaka until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
