Orange Stew Recipe
Step 1
Firstly, peel and wash the onion and chop it finely. Then sauté the chopped onion with some oil in a suitable pot to caramelize gently.
Step 2
Then add some black pepper and turmeric to the pan and sauté them with onion to get mixed.
Step 3
Wash and pat dry the chicken breasts. Take their skin off and chop them into small- to medium-sized cubic chunks. Sauté them well until they change their color.
Step 4
Then dissolve sugar in the orange juice. Now gradually sift the flour into the sweetened orange juice and mix them well to form a batter. Sifting will help you to avoid the flour from lumping.
Step 5
Next, you should peel the oranges so that all the pith are separated from the inside. The taste of orange stew depends on the type of oranges used in this stew. If you are using tart oranges, you can add more sugar to enhance the taste of the stew. For the best taste, it is better to use sour-sweet oranges that are neither too sweet nor too sour. You can also use mandarins for cooking this stew if you do not have oranges.
Step 6
Then chop the oranges into cubic chunks and add them to the pot. Let the chicken cook thoroughly, then add the oranges. If you add the oranges to the chicken too soon, they will break down and ruin the appearance of the stew. Sauté the oranges for a couple of minutes.
Step 7
At this stage, add the orange juice to the pot and let the stew reach the right consistency on very gentle heat.
Step 8
You can also add two tablespoons of brewed saffron to the stew, which in addition to making the color of the stew more beautiful, makes the stew more fragrant. After the stew is ready, put it in the dish you want and garnish it with julienned zest and slivered pistachio or almond. In the end, serve the orange stew with rice. Enjoy your meal!
