Falafel recipe canned chickpeas lebanese jamie oliver ottolenghi best easy

Falafel is one of the most popular food in the Middle East, cooked with various ingredients. This dish combines Chickpeas, onions, garlic, and parsley.

Ingredients for four people
dried chickpeas1.5 cup
Small onion1
parsley½ cup
cilantro½ cup
garlic cloves4
black pepper½ tsp
Salt1 tsp
cumin1 tsp
baking soda½ tsp
Frying oil1-2 cup

Falafel Instructions

Step 1

To cook falafel, the first thing you need to do is soak the chickpeas. Put the chickpeas in a bowl and pour water over it, then set aside to soak and soften for 24 hours or at least 12 hours.

Step 2

After this time, wash the chickpeas and put them in a meat grinder or blender until smooth. If you mix the chickpeas with a blender, be careful that they do not become entirely homogeneous like dough. Because during cooking, the texture of the falafels may open.

Step 3

Peel the onion and garlic, add the onion and garlic, parsley, cilantro, baking soda, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the blender, and mix.

Step 4

Pour all ingredients into a bowl and mix by hand until smooth. Cover the dish and refrigerate for two to several hours to combine the flavors.

Step 5

After 2 hours, take the bowl out of the refrigerator, put a small pan on a gentle heat, and pour the oil into it. Take a tablespoon full of ingredients and make it round by hand.

Step 6

Once the oil is well heated, put the falafel in the pan and wait for one side to turn golden brown. After 2 to 3 minutes, turn the falafel over to fry the other side.

Step 7

Fry all the falafel yeast in the same way. Remove the falafels from the oil and place them on a unique napkin to remove excess fat.

Step 8

The method of serving falafel is like a variety of sandwiches. Put the falafels with the tomatoes, pickles, and sliced onions in the baguette and serve.
