Pizza Margherita Recipe

Step 1

For preparing the dough, add lukewarm water, sugar, salt, and yeast to a large bowl and stir until they dissolve in water. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Sift the flour two to three times, gradually add it to the bowl and mix them gently. Then add softened butter or oil to the dough and stir well to form a massive shaggy dough.

Step 3

Turn out the dough onto your surface and knead it with your hand. After about five to eight minutes of kneading, the dough will become soft and elastic.

Step 4

Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for an hour to proof. This will relax the gluten strands and prevent the tendency of dough to rebound back while rolling it.

Step 5

Now wash the tomatoes, cut them in half, and set them aside. To give a gorgeous look to pizza, be sure to use uniform tomatoes of a relatively small size.

Step 6

Grate the garlic cloves with a fine grater, then sauté them with some oil in a suitable pan until fragrant but not brown for three minutes. Then add some salt, ground black pepper, and sauté a little until the garlic and spices are incorporated.

Step 7

Next, add half of the basil to the garlic. Let it release water and absorb it back. Then remove the pan from the heat and let the ingredients cool down.

Step 8

Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit degree.

Step 9

Turn the dough out onto the work surface and give it a little kneading to release its air bubbles. Then roll out the dough nicely into your baking tray.

Step 10

Evenly spread the sauce using the back of a spoon to the edge.

Step 11

Now spread the garlic and basil mixture on the pizza dough, top it with a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese, and place the sliced tomatoes and remaining basil leaves on top of the pizza cheese.

Step 12

Place the pizza in the oven and bake it for 20 minutes. Then grill the pizza for a few minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly. Your pizza Margherita is ready now. Serve yourself up a slice, and enjoy. You can keep the leftover pizza in the refrigerator for up to four days.
